Forget data brokers, government ran people search tools are better.
I’ve been writing about government run people search tools for years. Parcel records, GIS maps, property searches the tools exist. Finding the right one means working through thousands of county websites, different vendors, and interfaces that all do things a little differently.
So I built SectorGov.
The idea is simple: take the familiar feel of a commercial people search site and apply it to discovering government search tools and services.
SectorGov currently brings together 7,373 service links. Browse by location, filter by service, vendor or software, or enter an address or ZIP to find associated services. No account required.
For now, it’s a directory. You find a service and continue to its website. Link cleanup and better coverage are ongoing; pulling results directly into the app is something to explore later.
This is an independent research project I’ve wanted to make for a long time.
