Complete Install Guide of Kali NetHunter on Nexus 6P – 2025

Now that one of the best phones to ever be released, the Nexus 6P, is insanely affordable I decided to upgrade the 16gb model I’ve been rocking for like 8 years.

So I had to revisit the installation process of Kali NetHunter on a Nexus 6P (Angler) Android 8.1 (Oreo) which to my surprise is a mess and not defined anywhere I could find in a very simple and clear matter.

So I took some notes as I did it and thought I’d share.

Anyway some requirements:

Unlocked Nexus 6P

Platform-tools (ADB + Fastboot)

Magisk v23

TWRP v3.7.0_9-0 Angler

Kali NetHunter Full Build

Nethunter Kernel (Should be apart of the full build but I wasn’t sure of the version included with the full image, so I grabbed it anyway)

Optionally but recommended – Stock Android Image for 6P

Cool, so, first thing is turn the phone on, enable developer mode via device settings –> system info –> tap build number 5 times.

Now you should create a new zip of the NetHunter build as I was getting a bunch of issues of ‘corruption’ if I didn’t do this:

zip -F kali-nethunter-2025.1c-angler-oreo-full.zip.zip --out 6P-NetHunter.zip

Next is to throw all the requirements onto a USB stick.

Now go to developer options, enable USB and enable ‘unlock flashing’.

Now connect the phone to your box and run:

fastboot flashing unlock

Hit yes and boot back into the bootloader. FYI you can just turn the phone off and turn on while holding volume down to boot into bootloader as well.

Otherwise from userspace you can do:

adb reboot bootlooader

Now lets boot into TWRP

fastboot boot twrp-3.7.0_9-0-angler.img

or if AVB is disabled on your device:

fastboot flash twrp-3.7.0_9-0-angler.img

If you flashed lets boot into recovery otherwise the phone should automatically boot into it:

fastboot reboot recovery

Now lets do a full format.

Next lets select ‘Install’

Plug in USB via USB-c OTG cable that has all the requirements on it, and flash the stock angler Android 8.1 Image.

Wipe cache

Boot ‘er up to regular userspace, and reenable developer options + confirm that it shows flashing unlocked and grayed out (you can’t turn it off) within developer options.

Now boot into recovery again

Wipe cache

Install Magisk v23 via the ‘Install’ option in TWRP.

Boot up normally, connect 6P to WiFi, open Magisk and hit ‘yes’ to finish installation.

Open it up and confirm that it shows it’s installed.

Boot back into bootloader.

Now boot into recovery once again.

Select Install then select the Kali NetHunter full build.

Select Install again and Select the NetHunter kernel.

Clear Cache.

Boot ‘er up and BAM you’re good!

Last thing is to open the NetHunter App and then Chroot and run it + the metapackages you want to install.

When it prompts you for some password change or whatever, make sure you select yes.

Fin!
